Sohrab’s mother gives a moving testimony/account to Tehran City Council
I greet our friends and the Tehran City Council. If we’re considered here as citizens, we have much to say that weighs heavy on our hearts.
I lost my son on Monday 25 Khordad (15 June) during the peaceful demonstration organised to protest against the election and attended by least 3 million people. I lost my son. And as mobile phones were cut, I searched all around. I called him several times, and went looking for him at Azadi Square (Liberty Square), which is not far from our home. The scenes I saw were so dreadful that I can’t describe them to you. They were using so much tear gas and the atmosphere there was so like war that since then I’ve had breathing problems. I didn’t find my son. So I went home and, with my children and other members of my family, we went looking for Sohrab in all the hospitals, all the police stations. We found nothing. This youngster didn’t have his identity card on him. He only had a little money on him and he’d told me he was going to buy some pistachios on Enghelaab (Revolution) Avenue.
